Cooking in the classroom is a powerful, hands-on way to connect learning with everyday life. More than just a fun activity, cooking can be a rich, cross-curricular experience that supports math, science, literacy, fine motor skills, and social-emotional learning. This course equips educators with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to integrate cooking activities into their curriculum, providing children with meaningful opportunities to explore and learn while working with real ingredients, measurements, and recipes.
You’ll learn how to design cooking experiences that align with educational goals, from introducing basic math concepts like counting, measuring, and fractions, to exploring science topics such as states of matter, temperature changes, and chemical reactions in food. The course also covers literacy connections, including sequencing, following directions, and expanding vocabulary through cooking-related terms.
We’ll address important safety considerations for cooking in early learning settings, including sanitation practices, proper handling of food and equipment, and age-appropriate task assignments to keep children safe while actively participating. You’ll also discover strategies for adapting recipes to accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and cultural diversity.
By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills to create a fun, engaging, and educational culinary environment where cooking becomes a gateway to learning, collaboration, and creativity—helping children build practical life skills while strengthening their academic and social development.
This course was such a fun and inspiring training! It showed how cooking activities can support math, science, language, and social skills all at once. I loved the practical ideas for simple classroom recipes and how to involve children safely in each step. My students have become much more excited about learning when we incorporate cooking into our weekly activities.
I really enjoyed this course. It explained how cooking can be a powerful hands-on learning experience for young children. The connections to measurement, sequencing, teamwork, and problem-solving were especially helpful. The safety tips and classroom management suggestions made me feel much more comfortable bringing cooking projects into my program.
This training exceeded my expectations. It gave clear guidance on how to turn everyday cooking experiences into meaningful learning opportunities. I appreciated the focus on sensory exploration, nutrition awareness, and building independence. The children in my classroom are now more engaged, curious, and excited when we prepare simple foods together.
