Description

You’ll learn key safety practices for school-age settings, including effective supervision strategies, emergency preparedness, and hazard prevention both indoors and outdoors. We’ll cover health and hygiene routines appropriate for older children, such as promoting personal responsibility for cleanliness, safe food handling, and illness prevention, while reinforcing healthy habits that children can carry into adulthood.

The course will also focus on classroom and program organization skills tailored to school-age learners—how to structure spaces for learning, recreation, and social interaction, manage group dynamics, and create predictable routines that foster responsibility and self-discipline. You’ll also discover ways to balance structured activities with opportunities for creativity, exploration, and independent work.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to create a safe, hygienic, and well-organized classroom that supports school-age children’s physical health, emotional well-being, and continued growth—helping them succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Student Feedback

Jonathan M.

This course gave me such a strong understanding of how to support school-age children as they grow more independent and socially aware. I appreciated the explanations about peer relationships, emotional regulation, and developing responsibility. The strategies for guiding problem-solving and encouraging positive behavior were incredibly practical. I feel much more prepared to support children during this important developmental stage.

Amber S.

I really enjoyed this training. It helped me better understand the balance school-age children need between structure and freedom. The course did a great job explaining how cognitive, social, and emotional development influence behavior at this age. The examples of after-school activities, communication strategies, and conflict resolution tools were especially helpful. My interactions with the children feel more intentional and effective now.

Caleb R.

This was a fantastic course. It provided clear, research-based information about how school-age children learn, think, and socialize. The guidance on fostering independence, building confidence, and supporting friendships really stood out. I also appreciated the focus on creating a supportive environment that encourages both academic and emotional growth. I would highly recommend this training to anyone working with older children.
