Description

Caring for and teaching children between 12 and 24 months is an active, rewarding, and often fast-paced experience. At this age, toddlers are building independence, refining motor skills, exploring language, and developing social awareness—while still requiring attentive support for their safety, health, and emotional needs. This course equips you with the essential safety, health, hygiene, and classroom organization skills to create a secure, structured, and engaging environment for this busy stage of development.

You’ll learn key safety practices for toddler care, including hazard prevention, supervision strategies for active movers, and guidance for safe exploration both indoors and outdoors. The course will also cover health and hygiene routines such as diapering, early toilet learning support, handwashing, meal/snack safety, and illness prevention measures to keep children and staff healthy.

In addition, you’ll explore effective organization strategies tailored for toddlers, such as arranging activity areas for independence and safe mobility, structuring daily routines for predictability, and using engaging, developmentally appropriate materials. We’ll also discuss how to handle transitions smoothly, encourage self-help skills, and foster positive social interactions between toddlers learning to share and play together.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the knowledge, strategies, and confidence to create a safe, hygienic, and well-organized classroom that meets toddlers’ needs for exploration, learning, and emotional security—while supporting their rapid growth during this exciting stage of development.

Riley S.

This course was incredibly helpful in understanding the rapid development that happens between 12 and 24 months. I loved how it explained the connection between mobility, emerging language, and growing independence. The strategies for supporting exploration while maintaining safety were practical and easy to implement. I feel more prepared to guide toddlers through this exciting, high-energy stage.

Jenna P.

I really enjoyed this training. It gave such a clear look at what developmentally appropriate expectations should be for one-year-olds as they transition into toddlerhood. The examples of language-building activities, early problem-solving, and emotional support were especially useful. Since taking this course, I’ve noticed my toddlers communicating more and showing greater confidence during routines.

Dominique H.

This course exceeded my expectations. It covered everything from early social skills to motor development, and helped me better understand why children this age behave the way they do. The guidance on navigating big emotions, supporting curiosity, and setting up a responsive environment was incredibly helpful. I now approach this age group with more patience and intentionality.
