Caring for infants in a Montessori environment requires a thoughtful approach that supports both safety and development during the earliest stages of life. This course is designed to provide educators with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to work effectively with children from 6 weeks to 18 months of age in a Montessori setting.
Throughout this course, participants will explore essential health, safety, and hygiene practices that help create a secure and nurturing environment for infants. Topics include safe sleep practices, feeding routines, diapering procedures, sanitization, illness prevention, active supervision, and maintaining environments that support infant well-being.
The course also focuses on Montessori classroom organization and preparation, helping educators understand how to create spaces that encourage movement, exploration, independence, and sensory development. Participants will learn how the prepared environment supports infants’ natural curiosity and developmental growth while ensuring safety and accessibility.
In addition, participants will examine the unique developmental needs of infants, including physical, cognitive, language, and social-emotional development. The course highlights Montessori principles for observing infants, responding to their cues, building secure attachments, and supporting emerging independence through respectful caregiving practices.
Educators will also learn how daily routines such as feeding, diapering, sleeping, and transitions can become meaningful opportunities for connection, communication, and learning. Emphasis is placed on creating calm, consistent environments that support both the child and the caregiver.
By the end of this course, participants will have the knowledge and confidence needed to maintain a safe, healthy, and organized Montessori infant environment while supporting the development, independence, and well-being of children from 6 weeks to 18 months of age.
This course provided an excellent introduction to supporting infants in a Montessori environment. I appreciated how it emphasized responsive caregiving, observation, and creating a nurturing space that supports healthy development. The guidance on routines, movement, and building secure relationships was especially valuable.
I really enjoyed this training. It explained how Montessori principles can be applied to infants from six weeks to eighteen months in a way that encourages exploration, independence, and trust. The practical examples of preparing the environment and responding to developmental needs helped me feel more confident in my work with infants.
This course was both informative and inspiring. It highlighted the importance of respecting each infant’s individual pace of development while creating opportunities for growth and discovery. The focus on observation, responsive care, and fostering independence made this training incredibly meaningful. I highly recommend it to anyone working with infants in a Montessori setting.
