Description

New York State requires every employer, regardless of size, to provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees every year. This course is designed to help early childhood educators, childcare staff, and program leaders meet that annual requirement while building a workplace where everyone feels safe and respected.

You’ll learn what sexual harassment is and how to recognize it, from obvious misconduct to subtler behaviors, through examples that reflect real situations in childcare and education settings. We’ll also cover the federal and New York State laws that prohibit sexual harassment and the remedies available to people who experience it.

The course explains your rights and how to report harassment, both inside your organization and through outside agencies such as the New York State Division of Human Rights, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the courts. It also covers retaliation protections and the added responsibilities of supervisors and managers.

By the end of this course, you’ll be prepared to recognize, prevent, and respond to sexual harassment and to help create a respectful, professional environment for staff, children, and families.
