Technology is an increasingly common part of children’s everyday lives. From tablets and computers to interactive learning tools, digital devices are becoming more present in both homes and classrooms. While technology can offer valuable learning opportunities, it is important for educators and caregivers to understand how to use it thoughtfully and responsibly to support children’s development.
In this course, participants will explore the role of technology in early childhood and educational settings, learning how to distinguish between meaningful, educational screen time and unnecessary or excessive device use. You will examine how different types of digital content affect children’s attention, learning, and social development, helping you make informed decisions about when and how technology should be used.
Participants will also learn about the educational benefits of technology when used appropriately. The course highlights ways digital tools can support learning in areas such as literacy, math, creativity, communication, and problem-solving. You will discover how interactive technology can enhance engagement, provide access to diverse learning experiences, and support different learning styles.
In addition, the course will discuss best practices for integrating technology into learning environments, including setting healthy boundaries, selecting high-quality educational apps and programs, and balancing technology use with hands-on activities, play, and social interaction.
By the end of this course, participants will have the knowledge and confidence to use technology as a purposeful learning tool, ensuring that screen time enhances education while still supporting children’s overall development, creativity, and well-being.
This course provided a thoughtful and balanced look at how technology can be used appropriately with young children. I appreciated that it focused on intentional, developmentally appropriate use rather than simply adding screens to the classroom. The strategies for choosing meaningful digital tools and blending them with hands-on learning were especially helpful.
I really enjoyed this training. It helped me better understand how technology can support learning, creativity, and communication when used in the right way. The course also did a great job addressing screen time, safety, and the importance of active adult involvement. I now feel much more confident making smart choices about technology in early childhood settings.
This course exceeded my expectations. It explored both the benefits and challenges of using technology with young children and gave practical guidance for keeping it purposeful and age-appropriate. I especially liked the examples of using technology to extend learning rather than replace play. This training gave me a much clearer understanding of how to use digital tools responsibly in the classroom.
