Hawaii State Approved Courses
In Hawaii, early childhood educators working in licensed child care centers must meet qualifications established by the Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS). Depending on the role, staff must hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, associate degree, or higher in early childhood education, plus relevant experience. In addition to initial qualifications, providers must complete ongoing professional development, including training in child development, health and safety, and learning environments to maintain compliance and ensure quality care for young children.
