Illinois State Approved Courses

In Illinois, early childhood educators must follow licensing requirements from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and credentialing from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Educators must complete 15 clock hours of annual training, including topics like child development, behavior guidance, and health and safety. Educators in state-funded preschool programs must also hold a Professional Educator License (PEL) with an early childhood endorsement, which includes a degree, educator prep program, and licensure exams.
